Stoupa

Agios Nikolaos
Just a few kilometers drive or walk along the new coastal path from Stoupa, you will find the village of Agios Nikolaos with its picturesque harbour. Get there early and you can watch the fishermen unload their catch.
Vathia
The village of Vathia provides one of the classic views of the area, being featured in many guide books. Unfortunately the village is now largely deserted, but still worth visiting.
Cape Tainaron
Cape Tainaron is the most southerly point of mainland Greece. There is a cave close to the tip of the cape that Greek legends claim was the entrance to Hades. It takes about 50 minutes to walk to the lighthouse at the point, and is well worth the effort.
Ancient Messene
Ancient Messene is situated about 25km North West of Kalamata.
The site is open daily from early morning until 3pm. At present entry to the site is free of charge, but the nearby museum containing some statues from the site costs 2 euros.
Some of the remains of buidings to be seen include the Theater, one of the largest in antiquity, the Assembly Hall and the Stadium.
Gytheio
Gytheio is the largest and most important town in the Mani. Ferries sail to Kythira and to Crete from its port.
Monemvassia
The rock of Monemvassia towers above the eastern coast of Laconia and is an unforgettable site. A shallow causeway connects the rock to the mainland.
At the top of the rock lies the ruins of the old abandoned city, whilst below you will find a maze of narrow streets filled with busy cafes, shops, hotels and churches.
Monemvassia takes it's name from "moni" and "vasis", meaning single entrance.
Mystras
The archaeological site of Mystras is situated about 8km from Sparta.
Mystras provides the most complete picture of a town of the late Byzantine period.
The castle of Mystras was built in 1249 by Guillaume II de Villehardouin.
Navarino Bay
The stunning Navarino Bay, famous for a naval battle in 1827.
Pylos
The picturesque town of Pylos is situated on the west coast of the Peloponnese.
